Jefferson Cup Showcase 2026 - 1st Place

Rush Canada’s 2011 Boys delivered an outstanding performance at the Jefferson Cup, competing in a highly competitive 12-team showcase division.

The squad finished top of the group with a perfect record—three wins, six goals scored, and just one conceded—demonstrating consistency and quality on both sides of the ball.

The level of competition was excellent, with all three victories coming against strong opponents, including last year’s U14 ECNL National Champions. In the final match, facing a top team from the opposing group with first place on the line, the boys rose to the occasion with an impressive 3–1 win, capping off a dominant three days of soccer.

GRASSROOTS UPDATED STANDARDS are now active.

The Canada Soccer Grassroots Standards have been designed to create the best possible learning and development environment for young players in Canada. First introduced in 2020, the Grassroots Standards are based on Sport for Life’s Long-term Athlete Development (2007) and Canada Soccer’s Long-term Player Development (2008) as well as global best practice while considering the realities of Canadian soccer and will become mandatory for all member organizations (clubs, academies, districts/regions, leagues) in Canada in advance of the 2026 playing season.

In Canada, our goal is to cultivate an atmosphere conducive to as many Canadians as possible developing a passion for the ball, being skillful, with the ability to adapt and find solutions to soccer problems. To develop skillful players who are comfortable with the ball and have the technical proficiency and tactical understanding to solve soccer problems, it is essential that young players interact with the ball as often as possible by fostering an environment that maximizes one-on-one encounters, quick decision making, and final acts (goals, shots, crosses).

Given the uniqueness of our country, where geography, climate, and infrastructure can be vastly different from one region to the next, it may not always be possible to implement the Grassroots Standards in their entirety. Recognizing this reality, member organizations may apply for special dispensation through their Provincial/Territorial Member Association by providing supporting rationale and an action plan to achieve the standard (if applicable) if they are not able to meet all required standards. This approach allows for some flexibility to account for the different environments and contexts in which soccer is played, while setting a standardized national direction for grassroots soccer in Canada. As adults, it is our responsibility to ensure that all children can enjoy soccer in a safe, fun, accessible, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environment. The Grassroots Standards are structured around a set of guiding principles for grassroots soccer in Canada.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES:

Grassroots Programs should be appropriately structured for the age and stage of the participating players and allow for the opportunity for multi-sport participation, activity sampling, and life balance.
Grassroots Matches should be played on fields, with goals and balls, and following a match day format that is developmentally appropriate for the participating players.
Coaches have the greatest impact on the experience of players and every child deserves a properly qualified coach.
Children register to play soccer, not to watch others play or spend time traveling. Teams should strive for fair playing time and limit travel time as much as possible.
Talent Identification and selection should be delayed as long as possible to provide as many players as possible with the best training environment available.
Match results should not be the focus of grassroots soccer as this restricts player development and negatively impacts the player experience.

League 1 Canada Brand Update

PSLC LAUNCH

Premier Soccer Leagues Canada (PSLC), formerly League1 Canada, has unveiled a new name and brand identity that reflects its central role in Canada’s aligned domestic soccer pathway. Launched alongside a refreshed Canadian Premier League (CPL) identity, the rebrand strengthens cohesion across provincial and regional leagues while preserving the unique character of each competition.

As part of this evolution, League1 Ontario becomes the Ontario Premier League (OPL), League1 British Columbia becomes the British Columbia Premier League, and League1 Alberta becomes the Alberta Premier League. The system will continue to expand with the launch of the Prairies Premier League in May 2026, bringing Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Northern Ontario into the pathway.

The Ontario Premier League officially launches this season, maintaining the same competition formats as 2025 while introducing updated division names. Ontario Premier League 1, 2, and 3 replace the former Premier Division, Championship, and League2 Ontario, with promotion and relegation continuing across all tiers. OPL 3 will again operate across three regional conferences, and the Ontario Premier League U-20 replaces League1 Ontario U-20 with the same regional structure and playoff format. The League Cup will also return in its familiar format for both men’s and women’s competitions.

Rush Canada will be entering 2 Men's teams and 3 Women's teams into the upcoming 2026 Outdoor Season continuing the academy's commitment to player development and high-level competition. The PSLC rebrand reinforces a clear pathway from grassroots to professional soccer, providing athletes opportunities to progress locally, nationally, and internationally.

Congratulations to our Girls 2009 OPDL squad on an incredible championship run at the FTF Fall Showdown in Vaughan!

The team delivered a phenomenal weekend of soccer, winning all five matches with a combined 11 goals scored and only 2 conceded—a true testament to their discipline, effort, and quality across the pitch.

After topping their group, the girls faced a determined North Toronto side in a hard-fought final. Showing composure, resilience, and championship mentality, they secured a 2–1 victory to cap off an outstanding team performance from start to finish.

Well done, girls! We’re proud of your commitment, teamwork, and the way you represented the club. Keep building, keep believing, and keep raising the standard!

OPDL Head Coach - Michael Di Blasio

Rush Canada is excited to announce the appointment of Michael Di Blasio as Head Coach of our Girls 2010 (U16) & 2009 (U17) OPDL Teams for the upcoming 2026 Season.

Coach Michael holds a CONCACAF A License certification and brings a wealth of experience in player development, including a strong record of success in securing post-secondary scholarships and placements at top universities across Canada and the United States.

His proven track record demonstrates the importance of providing guidance and support for players both on and off the field as they strive to achieve their goals.

In addition to leading these OPDL teams, Coach Michael also serves as Head Coach of our Women’s League1 Program , creating a unique development pathway for these age groups, with the potential opportunity to train and compete at the League1 level.

BU15 OPDL CUP WINNERS....again!

A massive congratulations to our Boys 2010 OPDL (U15) squad for an absolutely incredible performance this past Sunday. The match had everything — extreme heat, a second-half red card, twice taking the lead only to concede moments later — but the boys never lost composure.

The game finished 2–2 and went to penalties. After early misses from both sides, our players stayed focused and cool under pressure to deliver the win. This is a very special achievement: Rush Canada has now won the OPDL Cup in the same age group two years running (Our 2009 boys won the BU15 OPDL Cup in 2024) . Back-to-back cup victories at U15 is no small feat — the players and coaches should be extremely proud.

Match highlights

Intense conditions: extreme heat throughout the match.
Tough test: an early red card in the second half forced the team to dig deep.
Never-say-die attitude: took the lead twice and responded when momentum swung the other way.
Nerve at the spot: match ended 2–2 and was decided on penalties — Rush held their nerve and prevailed 4-3.

Huge thanks to the coaching staff, support team, families, and everyone who came out to cheer. This group has shown resilience, skill, and heart — true Rush Canada spirit.

Rush Canada will soon been hosting OPDL Trails in the coming weeks. The first will be with players born 2013 who will have the opportunity to play for our U13 OPDL 2026 squad. The trials will be offered for both Boys and Girls starting August 27, 2025.

After an outstanding showing at the Rush International Cup with her 2011 Rush Canada teammates, Emma has earned a well-deserved spot on Rush Select.

Earlier in 2025, she was invited to join the Rush Select side that claimed victory at the Presidents Cup in Phoenix, Arizona. Her strong performance there led to yet another incredible opportunity — representing the Rush Select International 2009 Squad at this year's prestigious MIC Football Tournament in Portugal.

Despite being the youngest player on the team, Emma made an immediate impact, scoring two goals in her debut match to help secure a 2-2 draw. A rising talent with a fearless attitude, Emma continues to impress on every stage she steps onto.

Joshua Morris shines at WCC Qualifiers

Rush Canada is incredibly proud of Joshua Morris, a key member of our 2009 OPDL squad, who represented Guyana in the U17 World Cup Qualifiers this past February.

Joshua made an immediate impact on the international stage, scoring his first international goal in his debut match. Throughout the tournament, he showcased his exceptional talent, netting two goals in four games while demonstrating his relentless attacking presence and outstanding defensive abilities. His second goal was the first official goal ever scored by a player from Guyana against Costa Rica, a true moment in history!

His performance was instrumental in Guyana’s success, and we couldn’t be prouder of his achievements!

Rush Canada Congratulates Alyssa Stephenson on Her International Success

Rush Canada is proud to recognize Alyssa Stephenson for reaching a significant milestone in her soccer journey. Alyssa made her international debut with Jamaica’s U20 Women’s National Team during the Jewels of the Caribbean tournament in Trinidad and Tobago in December 2024.

Alyssa not only earned her first international cap but also made an immediate impact, scoring her first international goal to help Jamaica secure a 1-1 draw in a hard-fought match. She continued to shine throughout the tournament, playing a key role in Jamaica's 2-1 victory over hosts Trinidad and Tobago in the final , where she opened the scoring. Her performances highlighted her talent, determination, and ability to excel on the international stage.

Building on this achievement, Alyssa was selected to represent Jamaica in the U20 World Cup Qualifiers this past February. She played a crucial role throughout the tournament, including a hat trick performance, highlighting her ability to deliver at the highest level. Despite a heartbreaking late goal in their final match that narrowly denied Jamaica a place in the U20 World Cup, Alyssa’s contributions were instrumental to the team’s success.

Alyssa’s journey with Rush Canada has been nothing short of inspiring. She has been an integral member of several key teams, including the 2022 U17 OPDL squad, the 2023 U19 Women’s Reserve Team, and most recently, the 2024 League1 Championship Division side. At every level, she has demonstrated exceptional dedication, skill, and a relentless drive for excellence.

Rush Canada shines at the 2024

Rush International Cup!

This past November, Rush Canada proudly sent over 80 players to participate in the prestigious Rush International Cup . The event brought together some of the finest soccer talent and our players rose to the occasion!

Our players participated in the 2012, 2011 & 2010 Boys divisions and our girls were in the 2011 & 2010 divisions. While each group came close in their respective age bracket, our 2011 girls made the final only to lose in penalties. A special congratulations goes out to our 2010 Boys Team , who emerged as champions of their division! Their hard work, dedication, and teamwork truly paid off in this featured event.

We are incredibly proud of all our players who represented Rush Canada with skill and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Your performances have once again showcased the strength and talent within our program.

Let’s continue to build on this success and aim even higher next year.

In collaboration with Capelli Sport , Rush Soccer proudly announces the launch of its new ‘Apex’ uniform line for the 2025-27 seasons. The Apex uniform line will feature Carvana , the innovative online auto retailer, as the front jersey sponsor.

For the first time in its history, Rush Soccer will offer long-sleeved versions of both the home and away jerseys. These limited-edition long-sleeve jerseys will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Rush Canada proudly holds an OPDL License, granting us the opportunity to participate in the top youth league in the province. Our trial process follows the structured phases mandated for all OPDL clubs. Please review the details below to ensure you understand the timeline and eligibility requirements:

OPDL Trial Phases:

Phase 1: September 3, 2024 – October 21, 2024
OPEN to players who are not currently part of an OPDL program.

Phase 2: October 22, 2024 – February 4, 2025
OPEN to players who are currently participating in the OPDL.

Phase 3: February 5, 2025 – April 5, 2025
OPEN to both current OPDL players and those who are not.

Our coaches will review your submission and contact you if space is available, providing details on trial times and locations. Please note that trials are generally by invitation only, unless we announce an Open Trial date for a specific age group.
